Before George Carlin passed away in 2008, he witnessed his comedy routine (check it out here) become a horrific reality just a short few years after during the Great Recession. I am sure that many who were laughing at his “jokes” in 2005 found very little to laugh about when they lost their houses a few short years later.
Although most people know George Carlin mainly as a comedian or “Rufus” from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, he should best be remembered as an enlightened social critic.
Unfortunately, his assessment of “The American Dream” continues to ring true today, as much as it did in 2005 or even the Great Recession.
I agree with him wholeheartedly. In fact, this is just as true in Canada as it is in the US and is the #1 thing that drives me every single day to educate Canadians on the exact methods to achieve their financial freedom. I will be blunt here – absolutely no one else will achieve it for you, it is up to you and you alone!
With our ever decreasing social net, continual elimination of company pensions, grossly inadequate retirement savings, decreasing government medical coverage, social benefits, less good paying jobs, etc., etc.; today, more than ever, this is of critical and paramount importance, not just in America or Canada but across the world.
We must all stop fooling ourselves as a society that our employers or governments, or anyone else for that matter really, will take care of us or will have our best interest at heart. We must take back control of our very own lives and destiny.
I believe that Jim Rohn, Tony Robbins very own mentor said it best: “If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.”
So enjoy the video below. It is truly profane, profound, entertaining and simultaneously enlightening. It is just as true in Canada as it is for the USA. Just realize that there is much truth in your chuckles. Unfortunately, the stark reality of our reality and one of the greatest, yet also one of the most painful epiphanies of our time, is no laughing matter.
The good news is that you (yes you!) can still do something about it… before it’s too late.
